Major Kevin Chaney


After graduating from Camden County High School, captain Chaney served in the U.S. Army for four years. He joined the Camden County Sheriff's Office in 1995 as a corretions officer. In 1997 he began working as the department’s liaison with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force in Savannah. Kevin also served on the board in these roles until 2002.

In his tenure at the CCSO Capt. Chaney has filled a number of roles including: jailor, dispatcher, patrol deputy, member of Search & Rescue, member of Marine Patrol, investigator and a member of the Drug Squad. He completed the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) School, Tactical Commander School, DEA Basic Narcotics School, Undercover Officer School and several Drug Interdiction schools.

Major Chaney is also a certified diver, Shoot House instructor, SWAT Instructor, Less Than Lethal Instructor and marijuana identification expert. He currently serves as commander of the CCSO Drug Task Force and CCSO Emergency Response Team. He lives in Camden County with his wife and their two children.
