SPECIAL OPERATIONS & TRAINING DIVISION
Each year Sheriff’s Office personnel must upgrade their training to meet the requirements of the agency, and the State of Georgia. Deputies are mandated to complete twenty hours of training annually to remain a certified Peace Officer. The Camden County Sheriff’s Office requires Deputies to maintain forty hours of training, twenty more than required by the Georgia State Peace Officers Standard and Training Council.

In the Marine Patrol Division there are 5 boats ranging in length from 17 to 28. Camden County has over 169 miles of waterways consisting of The Big Satilla River, The Little Satilla River, Crooked River, St. Marys River, the Intracoastal Waterway, and numerous smaller streams and inlets that are patrolled by the Deputies assigned to the Marine Division. The Marine Patrol provides rescue service to commercial and recreational boaters when needed.
The Search and Rescue Unit has a multitude of community volunteers who offer thousands of hours of assistance during a time of need. These valuable members provide search and rescue service when people are lost, or a large area, such as a crime scene, needs to be searched allowing law enforcement to continue the normal daily operation without interruption.
